Getting started

How do I sign up for HostIt?

There's no separate sign-up step. Go to mypartyhost.com and tap Continue with Google. Your Google account becomes your HostIt account. The first event you create is your "sign-up."

Is HostIt free?

Yes for core hosting — creating events, sending invitations, and tracking RSVPs. Some advanced features (larger guest lists, premium invitation designs, advanced menu tools) are part of paid tiers. See pricing for details.

Do my guests need an account?

No. Guests open their personalized invitation link, tap Yes / No / Maybe, and they're done. No account, no app download, no email signup. This is on purpose — every step you add to RSVPing reduces response rates.

What devices does HostIt work on?

Any modern browser, on phone, tablet, or desktop. There's no native iOS or Android app — HostIt is a web app that adapts to whatever screen you're on. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to look like an app.

Invitations

How do invitations get delivered?

HostIt creates one unique link per guest. You send those links through whatever channel you'd normally use — text, WhatsApp, email, iMessage. HostIt doesn't blast emails from a generic address, because (a) those get filtered into spam, and (b) an invitation from "you" feels more personal than one from a tool.

Can I send invitations to many people at once?

Yes. After you build your guest list, the send screen shows all the links. You can copy them in bulk, use your phone's share sheet to forward each one, or email them out. There's no limit on guest count for paid plans.

What if I change the date or location?

Edit the event — the changes show up on every guest's invitation page automatically. Guests who have already RSVP'd get a notification so they can confirm or update their response based on the new details.

Can I customize how the invitation looks?

Yes. Pick from preset themes for common occasions, or fully customize the background, fonts, and colors. You can also upload a finished invitation image (designed in Canva, Photoshop, etc.) and use that.

RSVPs

How do I see who hasn't RSVP'd?

The event dashboard breaks guests into responded vs. not. You can tap any non-responder to copy their link again or send a reminder.

Can guests bring a plus-one?

Up to you. You can enable plus-ones per guest, per event, or not at all. If enabled, the RSVP form includes a "bringing someone?" field.

What if a guest needs to cancel after RSVPing yes?

They open their invitation link again and change their answer. Your dashboard updates immediately so your headcount stays accurate.

Can I send reminders?

Yes. The event dashboard has a "remind non-responders" button that re-sends the invitation link to anyone who hasn't replied. You can also send custom messages to your whole guest list (or just yes / maybe responders).

Privacy and data

Does HostIt sell my data?

No. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information or your guest list with third parties. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

What about my guests' contact info?

Same answer. Guest contact info is only used to send the invitation. We don't market to your guests, add them to mailing lists, or share their details.

How long is my event data kept?

For as long as your account exists. You can delete individual events at any time from your dashboard. Deleting your account removes everything within a few weeks — see the Privacy Policy for specifics.

Can I export my data?

Yes. The data-export tool gives you a CSV of your events and a JSON of your full account data. Use the support form with topic "Data request" if you don't see the export option in your account settings.

Payments and account

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards through our payment processor. We don't store full card numbers on our servers.

Can I cancel a paid subscription?

Yes. Cancel anytime from account settings; access continues to the end of the current billing period. No cancellation fees, no questions asked. See Terms of Service for details.

How do I delete my account?

Account settings → delete account. Or email support@mypartyhost.com with "Delete account" in the subject and we'll handle it within 2 business days.

Troubleshooting

I can't sign in.

Try a different browser or an incognito window first — most sign-in issues are caused by browser extensions or cookies. If it still doesn't work, contact us with the error message you're seeing.

A guest says their invitation link doesn't work.

Most commonly: they're clicking a link that was forwarded from someone else's invitation (each guest has their own link). Have them tell you the email or phone number they got it on, and resend their personal link from the dashboard.

The invitation image isn't showing.

If you uploaded a custom image, it might be too large — try compressing it under 2 MB. If you're using a preset theme, try toggling to a different theme and back, which forces a re-render.

I didn't get notified that someone RSVP'd.

Check your notification settings in account settings. If they're on and you still aren't getting notifications, check your email spam folder for "[HostIt]" messages and mark them as not spam.

General party-planning questions

How far in advance should I send invitations?

Casual parties: 2–3 weeks. Birthday and dinner parties: 3–4 weeks. Milestone events: 4–6 weeks. Weddings: 6–8 weeks with a save-the-date 4–6 months out. More detail in the RSVP guide.

What's a reasonable RSVP deadline?

One week before the party for casual events; two weeks before for larger ones. The deadline gives you time to finalize the menu and chase non-responders.

How many people typically don't show up?

For free events, expect 10–15% of "yes" responses to no-show. For ticketed events, much less. About 60% of "maybes" don't show up — plan accordingly.

How much food and drink per person?

Appetizers: 3–5 bites per person per hour for the first 2 hours. Main course: 1 plate plus 20% buffer. Drinks for a 3-hour party: 2 alcoholic plus 1 non-alcoholic per person, plus 25% buffer. See the budget guide for cost estimates.

What if someone is allergic or has dietary restrictions?

Ask on the RSVP form, or in a follow-up text once they've said yes. Always have at least one option that covers the most common restrictions: vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free.
